If you know nothing about Pokémon and are looking for a complete beginner- don't need to hear nerdy specifics- here's your TL;DR (too long, didn't read) review:Yes, the box and cards are in English. Box came in perfect condition. This deck is STRONG as well as includes more "complex" card abilities that might be too much for a brand new beginner. That being said, I bought this deck specifically for my five year old and she, with my help as an experienced player, learned the basic game mechanics within one hour. After a few days of playing the game she's started to memorize what the cards do and needs less help from me with having to read the cards, even the more "complex" abilities- for a beginner- like Path to the Peak. You will want a decently tough deck of your own to play against this deck out of the box because it is that strong. If all your child's friends are playing with basic decks, you can still get them this deck, however I might suggest you grab them a Level One deck to pull out in case they are finding people don't want to go against IceRider Calyrex because they can't possibly beat it with their cards. Now for my Pokémon Nerds:This is a seriously impressive deck right out of the box. It comes with three copies of Sobble, Drizzle, and Intelon, which- if you've been watching Pokemon tournaments the last few years- are in almost every deck you see hit the finals. Sobble is unassuming at first but you realize quickly it's one-energy ability Keep Calling allows you to bring up to three Rapid Strike pokemon right into your hand- which means if you already have or are able to pull a Drizzle (non-rapid strike) you can quickly evolve right into Intelon within four-five turns. This also gives you plenty of time to find and set up your IceRider Calyrex Vmax if you wanted to have that on your bench as a backup. There are so many trainers and pokemon available to be added to this base deck to make it even more competitive, it's a great foundation for someone looking to build their first tournament-level deck. Having a ton of fun putting it against my ShadowRider Calyrex deck, am interested to see how it goes against other levels of decks. Both me, a senior pokemon nerd, and my four year old beginner are having a bunch of fun so far.
